Message from Head of Primary
Welcome to the Primary School of the British International School of Al Khobar. We look forward to welcoming new parents and children to the school and fostering excellent partnerships throughout the Primary Phase and into our secondary school.. BISAK, is in the unique and privileged position of serving a diverse and vibrant learning community comprising over 50 different nationalities. A significant belief at BISAK is the development of the child as a global citizen. Our teaching and learning experiences reflect the ever changing global issues. Children learn from those around them and learning can be greatly enriched by an international context, understanding and appreciation. We believe in nurturing children as citizens for an international world and BISAK is a truly global community.
The Primary School is organised into three departments:
Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) – Pre-School and Reception classes.
Key Stage 1 (KS1) – Years 1 and 2.
Key Stage 2 (KS2) – Year 3 to Year 6.
Each Year group has three classes and a dedicated learning support assistant from year R to year 4 and shared learning assistants in years 5 and 6. Class numbers are deliberately kept small. High quality teaching and learning is delivered through a broad and balanced curriculum with a strong emphasis on the acquisition of basic skills at EYFS and Key Stage One. In EYFS we use the Early Years Framework and in years 1-6 we deliver the British National Curriculum via a cross-curricular framework using themes led by different subject programmes of study namely history, geography and science. This creative approach to the curriculum encourages pupils to follow their own lines of enquiry, stimulate curiosity and promote both personalised learning and international mindedness. We embrace and nurture learning as a focal point and our aim is to instil a love of learning which will remain with the children throughout their lives. We believe all children can succeed in their learning; that they are all entitled to high academic excellence, learning within a culture that recognises each individual’s abilities and which enables all to achieve to their full potential and have a sense of worth. More information about the make-up of the curriculum can be found under the other Primary headings.
Above all else, the Primary department of BISAK would be considered to be a large school in the UK but here in Saudi it is often described as having a small school feel! This is because the staff and parents work in such close partnership to provide a curriculum that is both relevant and memorable by making time to get to know every child as an individual and to value their all- round achievements and talents beyond the academic. We very much hope that this website provides you with a taster of the school and that you enjoy the many photographs we have on display to help bring our vibrant school to life. We hope you enjoy your visit to our website and that you find the information you are looking for. Please feel free to contact the school directly with any queries you might have.
